This was painted for an exhibition and the first HBK to be finished. The aerial and small head laser have been omitted to reduce the chance accidents as a result of clumsy handling at the exhibition.
Excellent build and great paintjob!
If only Iron wind could join the 21 century and make models like that. Great job.
they could but its a different production to what they are used too. The initial investment would be high (to redo the whole catalogue + variants) and the risk of black lash from going to plastic over metal (I remember something similar with GW when they did it). If done well once the injection moulds were made they could offer a sprue with one mech with an option for every variant for the cost of the mould and probably less that 25c a unit with they could resell for the same sum as they do currently. Its just that leap of faith required for invest in switch all of the catalogue, a concept artist, 3D cad designer, producing moulds (either hiring a machinist buy a CNC router or subcontracting), either investing in a plastic injection machine or subcontracting the production. But they probably look at battletech and don't have confidence it would break even so why rock the boat and risk jobs.
I know I would start buying their models if they did. As of now, I just don't like to have any of those 'game pieces' in my collection. With their artwork being so much better then their models its kinda of a let down. "That artwork is awesome I want that model. (look at model) On second thought I don't want that." I understand why its a hard thing for them but I think they will need to at some point.
outstanding work and attention to detail!
